Graeme Bradshaw is a highly respected Naturopath and Homeopath, with 30 years in clinical practice. Graeme is originally from Tasmania, where he completed his undergraduate study in Science, continued with teacher training and taught in schools for a year before turning to Natural Medicine. In Sydney he qualified in Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism and Nutrition. Graeme came to Hong Kong in 1990 and has set up IMI, the leading Integrative Medicine clinic in the region. His post-graduate studies have been in the area of Functional Medicine. Graeme treats patients of all ages, and with special interests in the gut-brain connection: identifying digestive disorders and the commonly related mind and mood, and immune problems.

“Where possible I like to get test-based facts then individualise the natural therapies based on this information. For example a common condition such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which an uncomfortable and often distressing digestive complaint, is very often an undiagnosed bacterial, fungal or parasitic infection for example, or it may be caused by food intolerances. However, most people are told it’s “just your stress” and given inappropriate advice and treatments. With accurate testing we uncover the true causes of illness such as this and correct them, allowing good heath to return,” says Graeme.

Graeme has considerable experience with digestive issues such as Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), candida, parasites and food intolerances. Correction of gut issues can benefit a wide range of problems including those affecting the skin, mind, moods, joints and immunity. Children with frequent colds, asthma, eczema, sleep disorders, ADHD or autism may respond well to this approach. Adults with immune or hormone issues, acne, fatigue, muscle pain, migraine, joint or abdominal bloating and bowel irregularities will normally find lasting relief with this approach.

Another area of expertise Graeme has is through the use of the Organic Acids Test (OAT) and with DNA tests. The OAT is a urine test that uncovers not only gut infections, particularly Candida, but also urinary neurotransmitter levels, how the mitochondria in our cells are doing at producing our vital energy and it can also indicate any pollution-related toxicity damage as well as nutritional deficiencies. This test is helpful to indicate how the brain and metabolism is managing at the cell level with toxin exposure from the gut or environment.

The DNA testing that Graeme that may recommend is a simple saliva test for those clients who wish to look more deeply at underlying genetic predispositions. The test is only for factors that can be managed successfully, so that prevention strategies can be informatively implemented. It can reveal sluggish detoxification, and tendencies such as to anxiety, depression, arthritis, Alzheimers disease, heart disease, diabetes, estrogen isues and more. DNA testing can also be chosen to guide the diet and the type of sports that are most appropriate, allowing accurate individualization of advice. This is an ideal approach for those clients wishing to minimize the effect of DNA factors on their physical and mental health.

Graeme’s lifestyle includes gym fitness training, hill-walking, meditation practice, and a healthy non-vegetarian diet - along with a few coffees and “drinks” a week. He is a father of three (33, 30 and 10 years old) and recently became a grandfather J
